September 9th, 2018- Ice Cream Social from 1-3 pm at the Stony Hill Schoolhouse (49 N. Hametown Road)
Join us for a day of ice cream and comradery! This is a free event, and we look forward to sharing the day and opening up the schoolhouse for tours. Following the ice cream social, the Bath Business Association will hold a road rally! In honor of Bath's 2018 Bicentennial, rally participants will be given a photo sheet depicting a dozen or so historic buildings from days of yore in the township. The mystery this year will be to find and identify the locations of those buildings which may (or may not) still be there. Following the road rally, dinner will be served in the tent on the schoolhouse grounds, with prizes awarded for the most locations found and accurately identified with addresses. Cost for the road rally is $10 per vehicle; dinner is $10 per person, $5 for children under age 12. Registration for the road rally and dinner is required by Sept. 7. Registration forms can be downloaded here or will be available at The Bake Shop in Ghent, 800 Wye Road, starting Aug. 14. For details, call 330-666-3347. Last day to get tickets is July 31st!!
This old fashioned picnic will be held from 1:00 to 3:00 pm in the Bath Community Park as part of the Bicentennial celebration. The meal will include chicken, potatoes, salad, dessert, and lemonade. Tickets will be for sale for $10 at the Bake Shop in Ghent, Garth Andrew's, and at the Bath Township Historical Society Museum. Bath Township used to have the annual pioneer picnic for several years. It is believed to have started in the 1860’s to commemorate the Perry Victor on Lake Erie on September 10th, 1813. The picnic also celebrated Civil War veterans in later years, and the tradition continued into the 1930s. We hope you’ll join us for this community event!
